'I need to feel close to you', is a series of digital collage where the landscape is imagined as a physical and psychological space; a backdrop signifying a form of internal conflict, the struggle between body and environment, emotion and landscape. The majority of the works use self-portraiture techniques which digitally merge the human form with its surroundings. The blending of the body into the landscape blurs the binary between the human and natural world, queering classical anthropocentric notions that humans are dominant over the land and are somehow separate to nature. The result is a series of images that are dramatic and ambiguous, inviting the viewer into the crevices of the formation of the body and environment. The project examines an internal landscape in relation to the desire for intimacy and a requirement to feel connected to the land around as a tool to feel close to oneself.
